Passing the Flame has been enhanced with funding from Sporting Heritage’s Art Fund for our ‘Community Sporting Heritage Champions’ project launched on the National Sporting Heritage Day – 30th September 2019. It extends the understanding about preservation and the importance of sporting heritage by asking the general public to share their own stories and memories of the Games they have watched or experienced in their life time presented here in text, spoken word and pictures. This aims to recognise the impact of the Olympics and Paralympics on those who didn’t take part but were inspired by the athletes’ achievements as spectators. They will be motivated to take part by the learning activities, free resources, visits to the BOA at UEL and stadia in the park as participants of the passing the Flame project. Their contributions will then be celebrated at the launch of the Passing the Flame free resources and at the Sporting Heritage Day – 30th September 2020.
